Did you know a Qualified IBCLC best suits advanced Lactation and breastfeeding needs?
Experience VALUE in IBCLC support
What does IBCLC mean?
Stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. An IBCLC holds an international credential with a licensure. This is particularly important because insurance companies typically will reimburse families for services by licensed providers.
*Please check with your health insurance for their coverage policies.
What is the difference between IBCLC and other health providers without IBCLC credentials?
An IBCLC is the most trusted source for breastfeeding care and human lactation!
IBCLCs have double the amount of hours in advanced lactation education (90 hours min.) and extended lactation clinical hours (300-1000 hours, pathway depending), than other lactation providers, who generally have far fewer- or other health professionals- who have little to none breastfeeding training or human lactation education. Upon completion this then qualifies candidates to sit and pass a 3-4 hour, highly reputable exam to be fully certified.
*Don’t assume your physician or health care provider is skilled or educated in breastfeeding/lactation. Be sure to ASK and choose a provider with lactation qualifications to get the most current information and avoid misguided help.
How can an IBCLC help you?
Not only is an IBCLC at the forefront for lactation providers, they are also cited in numerous research to improve breastfeeding outcomes. This means an IBCLC can provide you skilled care and evidence based information to help you improve and meet your breastfeeding goals.
